Roofing in Holt

Holt was wrecked by fire on 1 May 1708, which destroyed most of the medieval town in three hours. The rebuilding that followed is the reason the place is known for its Georgian buildings, which is why the centre of town is Georgian and later rather than medieval. Holt was one of the first conservation areas designated by the county council, in December 1974, so a re-roof in the centre that changes what is on the roof needs permission, and matching what is already up there is the sensible route rather than whatever is cheapest on the van. We survey properly before quoting, take photographs so you can see what we have seen, and take on leak tracing after wind and rain, storm damage and full replacements. If a repair will hold, we will say so.

Why choose us in Holt

Trusted Roofing specialists
in Holt

The town lies on the A148, the King's Lynn to Cromer main road that runs via Fakenham, so vans and materials come in on a decent route. Norwich is 23 miles to the south. Holt is also the south-western terminus of the preserved North Norfolk Railway, the Poppy Line, which pulls visitors in and is worth allowing for when we book scaffold and plan where to park.

Red and gault brick are the prevalent walling materials, with some render and painted brick, and flint is used less here than in the surrounding rural villages. Red clay and black glazed pantiles are the local vernacular on the roofs, so most of our work is pantile work: matched replacements, sound battens, and verges and ridges bedded properly rather than made up in concrete.
